SOLD! ‘Glen Elgin Farm’ "Glen Elgin Farm" 15km east of Hyden
‘Glen Elgin Farm’ Approx 15km east of Hyden
An opportunity such as this does not arise often but here in Hyden approximately 25 km east lies a large 5750ha (14,208 acre) farming opportunity known as Glen Elgin farm. Originally taken up by the Payne brothers Ron and Callum upon their arrival in WA around the mid 1960’s; the brothers successfully operated a conservative sheep and grain farm. Approximately 10 years ago a conscious decision due to both age and management reasons was made to concentrate on sheep rather than cropping. Consequently, very conservative farming practises were generated.
On Saturday 18th September we will be offering the property by auction at the Hyden Hotel motel at 11 am the chance for a purchaser to acquire a large tract of land which has not had the concentrated farming practises placed upon it. The purchaser will instead acquire a property which has not been cropped extensively, well-watered with full dams and in places showing large stands of clover almost 30cm high!
Infrastructure on the property includes 2 houses, shearing shed with extensive metal and weldmesh yards, large workshop with gantry crane and lean-to, fertiliser shed and numerous silos of varying sizes
The property is being offered with a short marketing period to enable the successful purchase the opportunity to enter to mitigate the feed growth and fire control purposes. Glen Elgin will be offered in 2 parts – the main farm of 8 lots comprising 5196 Ha and a 554ha adjacent holding Lot 1465 separately a total of 5750ha (14208 acres).
