AWN has announced the latest expansion of its business with the acquisition of the successful Tatura-based livestock agency, Mulcahy Nelson.
The northern Victorian agency, which will be known as AWN Nelson Livestock, strategically positions the growing Australian agri-services business in a key growth region and along with another local AWN agency, will see AWN become the single largest livestock seller at the Shepparton livestock exchange.
AWN Chief Operating Officer, Rick Maybury, said that the acquisition is an excellent fit for the growing Australian-owned agri-services business.
“I am pleased to welcome the AWN Nelson Livestock team to AWN. Their client-first approach is an excellent fit with AWN’s philosophy, and we are looking forward to helping the AWN Nelson Livestock clients unlock greater value through the AWN network,” Mr Maybury said.
“There is an incredible amount of opportunity in Australian agriculture off the back of phenomenal seasonal conditions in many areas in recent years, coupled with the increasing demand for food and fibre. As a pure-play agri-services business, we are looking forward to supporting more clients across rural Australia in accessing these opportunities as we continue to expand.”

“Our priority has always been our clients and ensuring everything we do is in their best interest. I know that this partnership with a like-minded Australian business will see that continue.
“I can’t thank our clients enough for their tremendous support all these years. I am humbled every day by the trust they put in us, and I look forward to being able to offer our clients even more opportunities as we take this next step as AWN Nelson Livestock.”
The Australian-owned business is no stranger to growth, starting as a small business of four in 1999 and rapidly growing to be the largest independent wool broker in Australia. In recent years, AWN has diversified into livestock and rural property services, strategically establishing numerous greenfield sites and acquiring a number of successful independent agencies in key locations across rural Australia.
