AWN, Australia’s third largest agri-services company, announced today the acquisition of Inverell-based livestock and property agency C.L. Squires & Co. The acquisition aligns with AWN’s strategic growth plan and reinforces its position as a leading provider of agribusiness services in Australia.
C.L. Squires & Co is a well-established agency which has operated in the Northern New South Wales and Southern Queensland regions for over fifty years. The business has strong supply chain ties in Australian Wagyu beef, an industry that is valued at $2 billion annually according to the Australian Wagyu Association.
AWN Managing Director and CEO John Colley commented on the acquisition, saying, “I am pleased to announce AWN’s acquisition of C.L. Squires & Co. This acquisition is a solid strategic and cultural fit for AWN, with both businesses sharing a long-standing commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.”
“The acquisition will significantly enhance AWN’s livestock and property footprint in New South Wales and Southern Queensland and provide C.L. Squires & Co clients with access to AWN’s extensive national network of agents and major auction centres across Australia.”

“The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences is forecasting Australian agricultural production and export values to reach record levels of $90 billion and $75 billion respectively in 2022-2023. It is an exciting time to be in agribusiness, and at AWN, we look forward to continuing to invest sensibly and strategically in our expansion across rural Australia.”
AWN was founded in 1999 as a specialist wool broker and quickly grew to become the country’s largest independent wool broker. Following the company’s diversification into livestock and rural property, AWN has achieved significant organic and inorganic growth in recent years, becoming Australia’s third-largest agri-services company.
