About the Role

AWN Livestock, Wool & Property Wimmera are seeking a full-time Private Wool Buyer to join its professional team based out of the Horsham office.

It is an exciting time to be part of the wool and livestock industry with pricing at historically elevated levels.

AWN Livestock, Wool & Property are focussed on professionalism, a high level of customer service with key values of Collaboration, Agility, Respect & Support.

Our brand is fast growing in Western Victoria, we are the leading livestock agency business in the Wimmera region and are looking to grow and expand our private wool buying operations.

Candidates should possess the following attributes

  • Ideally have a background in wool production, buying, handling and processing
  • A good understanding of the livestock industry and livestock terminology
  • Have excellent communication skills and customer facing experience
  • Be physically capable of pressing and handling wool bales
  • Possess a minimum of a medium rigid truck license
  • Good computer literacy and ability to learn and operate basic wool purchasing software will be an advantage
  • A wool classers certificate is preferred but not essential
  • A competitive salary package based on experience will be offered

                                              About the Role

                                              We have various opportunities available across our Horsham, Hamilton, and Bordertown sites, including:

                                              • Branch manager
                                              • Wool buyer
                                              • Trainees
                                              • Truck driver

                                              About You

                                              Whilst previous wool experience would be highly regarded, it is not essential, and we encourage applications from a variety of agricultural backgrounds.

                                              Preferred skills:

                                              • Strong verbal and written communication skills
                                              • Proficient computing skills, including MS Office
                                              • Forklift & MR License would be advantageous
                                              • Rural affinity would be highly regarded
