Full Time – Payroll Operations Officer | Western Sydney, NSW
AWN is on the lookout for an experienced and personable Payroll Operations Officer to join our company, based in Western Sydney, NSW
Reporting into the GM of People & Culture, the successful candidate will be a self-starter in this hands-on operational role. You will be responsible for the delivery of timely and accurate end to end payroll, and HR data for over 200+ employees across Australia.

Key responsibilities
Operations:
- Maintain accurate and up to date employee records.
- Manage HR related queries.
- Manage the onboarding and offboarding employees.
- Assist with recruitment of new staff and ensure the recruitment process is adhered to.
- Issuing letters of offer and contracts for new starter employees.
- Assist in the annual salary review process for employees.
- Assist in the maintenance and creation of relevant human resource policies and procedures
Payroll:
- Liaise with external Payroll provider and Finance team to process fortnightly and monthly payroll, accurately and on time.
- Ensure all payroll variations, employee changes and updates are correctly processed in each payroll cycle.
- Manage payroll-related queries.
- Liaise with the Finance team for any reconciliation and reporting queries.
- Understanding, interpreting and applying awards/ agreements and contracts in payroll processing and contract creation.
- Monthly and Annual Payroll Tax calculations and submission.
Reporting:
- Prepare monthly/quarterly reports on Payroll and HR statistics reports.
- Prepare annual Workplace Gender Equality (WGEA) Report.
- Workers compensation yearly reporting.
- Ad-hoc report requests from the business.
Other:
- Own the relationship with the HRIS provider and ensure HR and Payroll data is accurately maintained, whilst Implementing systems enhancements that benefit the business.
- Provide training and support for end users of the time and attendance system and HR system.
About You
- A proven track record in payroll management (3-4 years minimum) with a strong understanding of Australian employment legislation and regulations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to provide expert payroll advice and support across the organisation.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities to research and resolve payroll issues efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and prior experience using Employment Hero software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Meticulous attention to detail, adaptability, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
