The Wagga sheep and lamb sale on 12 June, 2025, saw an incredible day for producers, with RM Carroll & Sons of Ganmain setting a new AWN Wagga lamb price record. Their pen of 33 Australian White lambs fetched an astounding $409.60 per head, marking a significant milestone for the family. However, while they consistently top the sales, this is their first time breaking the $400 barrier. This outstanding result is a testament to their dedication and hard work.
The market itself was exceptionally strong, with 35,000 lambs and 15,000 mutton yarded. A large percentage of lambs sold for over $300, and many even surpassed $350. The top price for the day reached $425, with RM Carroll & Sons securing the third-highest price, just $15 shy of the top spot.
Lambs consistently commanded prices over $10/kg dressed weight, with $11/kg becoming increasingly common, particularly in the trade section. We even saw some of the best-presented lambs nearing $12/kg.
Looking ahead, Joe forecasts that “weight pays.” Heavy, well-finished lambs are becoming increasingly scarce, and this reduced supply, coupled with consistent demand, is expected to continue driving excellent prices for these premium animals in the coming months. Well done to all vendors who brought heavyweight lambs to market today!
