Scott Thrift Joins the Team

<< Back to News & Media

There is nothing better than having the best in the business on board when you are undergoing a rapid expansion. We have ensured this is exactly the case by securing the services of Scott Thrift, a name synonymous with the wool and sheep industry.

With many miles under his belt and a phone overflowing with contacts and never stops ringing, Scott, or Scotty as he is known to many, provides a huge boost to our ranks.

In somewhat of a coup for our business and clients, Scott will be servicing central west NSW as a sheep and wool specialist. He couldn’t have joined the team at a better time with our company rapidly expanding its livestock and wool trading footprint across the nation.

Joining the team early this year, Scott quickly became a vital cog in the wheel, helping the company grow.

“Working with AWN gives me more time to spend with clients and, combined with my skillset, enables me to better service clients for their benefit and that of the company,’’ Scott said.

Classing 30,000 – 40,000 sheep annually for commercial clients, Scott’s skillset can only be described as impressive. He is an excellent fit for our growing Australian-owned business and his approach in putting clients first perfectly ties in with our philosophy.

A Level 1 AuctionsPlus sheep assessor, Scott not only classes sheep but also offers clients stud classing, sire selection, livestock marketing and client advisory services as well as livestock production advice, wool specialist services and ram selection and purchasing assistance.

Looking very comfortable in the blue colours of AWN, Scott has forged strong relationships with his clients who he considers his friends. Quietly spoken, Scott is humble when talking about his achievements, however, his reliability, commitment, and passion are well-known in sheep circles. He is known to be always there and ready to help.

“My real passion comes from the achievement of getting a sale over the line and seeing my clients prosper. My skillset has been learned from experience, not out of a textbook. I have gained an immense amount of knowledge on my journey, and I enjoy sharing this with my clients and gaining their personal trust and respect,’’ he said.

AWN Central and Western NSW manager Brett Cooper said Scott had undoubtedly proven to be a wonderful addition to the team.“Scott has a wealth of experience in the sheep and wool industry throughout Australia and is very committed to his clients. He has an enormous network of clients and contacts and is playing a vital role in building the business, especially considering recent acquisitions in the central west of NSW,’’

He said, The move to AWN is something Scott wanted to do for himself and his clients, and he quickly knew he had made the right decision.

“This is a growing business with a talented team behind it. There’s excellent communication, and I am using my skills to great advantage – both in the good and tough times. You forge strong bonds with your clients and when the going gets tough that’s when they really need to be able to rely on you. I need to be able to get them results in these times. It’s not always a case where someone is on the phone looking for an order. You have to use your network and your negotiating skills to go out there and find the best market options for your clients and with AWN’s expansion, this will allow me to do this even better,’’ he said.

Scott’s reputation in the industry for being hard-working, reliable and always doing the best for his clients is far-reaching, and he has the knowledge and contacts in all forms of wool and sheep marketing to get his much-valued clients the best returns.
