AR & HJ McInness, Phoenix Rise, Kingston SA

For Anthony McInness he ‘can’t ever imagine changing his profession as a woolgrower’ and after 30 years at the job it’s obvious that he loves what he does.

Anthony says “Knowing we have managed our sheep to the best of our ability in an ever changing environment and working to achieve a clean and bright fleece from healthy and happy sheep is such a rewarding feeling.”

Anthony and his wife Heidi and their two daughters Emilee and Charlotte are woolgrowers from the LImestone Coast region of South Australia. Running around 1200 merino sheep their philosophy is to run the farm in a balanced way that cares for both the land and the sheep themselves.  In a similar vein Anthony and Heidi both agree that raising a family on a farm has many healthy benefits and opportunities and teaches life skills you just can’t get  growing up anywhere else.

Q. What does it mean to you to know who is wearing your wool?

A. Wool is such a beautiful natural fibre. Knowing our wool is being worn by customers who appreciate quality and comfort is why we do what we do.

Q. What would you like to say to the person wearing your wool?

A. Our sheep are important to us. We do all we can to keep them happy and healthy, so they can produce for us the best wool they can. Beautiful products are made from our wool. We love producing high quality wool and we hope the garment gives you as much joy in wearing it as we had in growing the raw product.
